January 7th

Thank you, Mema Jeanne. Your post was well written and I too can share in the memory and peaceful of watching someone breath their last. I cared for my grandmother in her last days and she was surrounded by all of her children and grandchildren when she breathed her last. I remember the room filling with a sense of peace as our hearts rejoiced with the fact she was with her Savior. She had a huge impact on me as her life was lived loving the Lord. It was her death that God used to draw me back to Him. Thank you so very much, Mema for allowing me the sweet memory of my blessed grandma! What brought the wow factor to me in our reading today was that God tested Abraham. Not that I was surprised by it but that after Abraham passed the test The Lord said through an angel in Genesis 22:15 – 18 – Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by my own name that I wi certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of their enemies. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed all because you obeyed me. When I read that I thought, The Lord swearing my His own name stuck out. What? Did I miss that back in Genesis the first time God promised that to Abraham? I flipped back to Genesis 17: 15-27. God renamed Sarai, told Abraham she will be blessed with a son and Abraham laughed to himself in disbelief. Questioned God about his old age and God replied, “No, Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac and I will confirm my covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant. God wasn’t confirming His covenant but only said that He would. As I read Genesis 17:15-27, I will kept jumping out at me! God said I will 11 times and here in Genesis 22 :1-24, we see God did exactly what He said He would do! Abraham passed the test of faith and God proved to all all generations to follow. He is who He says He is and He can do what He says He can do! Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice. For laying down your life so we may be free! May we use our freedom to glorify God in all we do. May the examples we lead represent You and all of Your love! We thank You Father for drawing our hearts towards you in your Word! Thank you for this sweet fellowship of sisters desperate for You! We love You and honor You, In Jesus name we pray, Amen! Bethany
