Joshua sure had big shoes to fill after Moses died. And fill them he did. Today we see him at the end of his life; still encouraging and leading his people like the champion he was.
Some amazing direction he gives his people which should be applied also by us today is right in front of us in chapter 24. “So fear the Lord and serve Him wholeheartedly….Serve the Lord alone……But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve….But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord”.
Beautiful words to live by. We each have to decide just who it is we will obey. Isn’t it easy to slip into quiet rebellion and go our own way? To serve the God of self, of greed, of jealousy, of prejudice, (the list is endless). We must rise everyday and recommit ourselves to our Faithful and True God. We should desire to influence the world around us for God.
Let’s not get so wrapped up in ourselves and our little lives that we forget the big picture and the important thing. To glorify God! Let’s not lose sight of our purpose…to bring others to God. Amen, and amen.
